Who runs it
BR Apparel was founded in 2013 by Baljit Rai and still runs from the same unit at Fieldhead Business Centre in Bradford.
I started in this industry at 13, when my brother Mac got me a job at the embroidery factory where he worked. He did not just get me the job. He coached me, he educated me, and he showed me what it meant to do things properly. The foundation of everything I know came from him.
My father passed away in 1989. From that moment I understood that life was going to be hard and that you had to build things yourself. My mother brought us back to the UK and held everything together, and my brother stepped into the father role. I am the man I am today because of both of them.
Since then I have driven buses, sold gas and electricity, worked in telesales and dealt cards in a casino. I started my own embroidery digitising business in 2003 and founded BR Apparel ten years later. Every chapter taught me something. None of it was wasted.
In 2026 I started BR Apparel Launch Studio, because the people coming to me had stopped being buyers with a uniform budget. They were founders with an idea and no sensible way to get it made, not without committing to 300 pieces and a twelve-week wait from overseas.
My son works alongside me now. The industry my brother introduced me to at 13 is something I am building to pass on.
I am a proud father, a Sikh, and someone who believes in doing things with integrity and humanity. Bradford built me.
It is a small company by design. When you call about a quote, an artwork proof or a reorder, you are speaking to the person who runs it, not to an account manager who will pass it on. The same people see your first order and your fifth.
Why brands come to us
A founder spends months on a logo, picks the right garment, gets the print exactly right. Then a customer tries it on and finds someone else’s name in the collar.
That is the gap we fill. Overseas cut and sew starts at 100 per style per colour and takes three to four months. Buying blanks is quick, but the supplier name stays in the neck and the finishing becomes your problem. We are the bit in between: garments, decoration, your own label, finishing and delivery, from one supplier on one invoice.
Most brands should start on stock garments. Low minimums, short lead times, and you find out what sells before you commit real money. When your volumes justify bespoke cut and sew, we will tell you honestly.

Embroidered polos, hi-vis, jackets, fleeces and uniform packs by role, for teams across Bradford, Leeds and West Yorkshire. Hospitality, manufacturing, construction, logistics, corporate, care homes and hotels.
Artwork, thread colours, garment codes and sizing are held on file, so a reorder for one new starter comes back matching the original batch. Quotes back within 24 hours, and a 4 to 5 working day turnaround on workwear and uniform orders.

You are welcome to visit before you order anything. A 350gsm hoodie and a 400gsm hoodie look identical in a photograph and feel completely different when you pick them up. Come in, handle the fabrics, look at the label and swing ticket options, and decide with the garment in your hands. Clients have travelled a long way to do exactly that.
