Clothing relabelling service
Their label out. Yours in.
We remove the blank supplier's neck label and stitch in your woven label, add care labels and a swing ticket, and bag the garment ready to sell.
Why the label in the neck matters
Every blank garment arrives with its supplier's name in the neck. Print your design on it and it is still, to anyone who turns the collar over, a Stanley/Stella tee or an AS Colour hoodie with your logo on the front. That is the difference between merchandise and a brand, and it is why customers who pay a retail price look in the neck.
Relabelling closes that gap. The supplier label is unpicked, your woven label goes in the same place, a printed care label carries the composition and wash instructions, and a swing ticket finishes it. It is the least expensive part of building a brand and the part most new brands skip.
The whole finishing package, from label folds to bagging, is on the own label page. This page is about the relabelling service itself: what happens, where the label can go and what you need to send.
How relabelling works
Step 1
Choose the garments
Pick from the Stanley/Stella, Native Spirit and AS Colour ranges we hold in stock. Because the blanks are already here there is no wait on a production run, and a reorder comes from the same stock so it matches the first.
Step 2
Send us your label artwork
A vector file of your logo is enough to start. We advise on the fold type, the size and the position before anything is made, because the fold changes how the label sits in the neck and it is the decision that is hardest to undo.
Step 3
Labels are made
Woven labels and swing tickets run at 100 per design, which is the label maker minimum, and take 10 to 14 days from artwork approval. Anything you do not use is held for your next run.
Step 4
The garments are decorated
Embroidery, DTF or screen print, whichever suits the design. Decoration and relabelling are booked as one job so the garments move straight from one to the other.
Step 5
Their label out, yours in
The supplier label is unpicked and your woven label is stitched in its place. Care labels are applied, swing tickets attached, and every garment is bagged with a size sticker at our Bradford unit.
Step 6
Delivered ready to sell
Two to three weeks from order to delivery on a first run. Reorders on approved artwork are 10 to 14 days.
Where the label can go
- Neck
- The standard position and the one customers read. Replaces the supplier label exactly where it was.
- Side seam
- Common for care labels, or for a brand label on garments where you want the neck left clean.
- Sleeve or cuff
- A small external woven label, usually a second placement rather than the only one.
- Caps
- The inner panel, so the cap reads as yours when it is turned over.
Most brands relabel the neck and stop there. A second placement on the sleeve or hem is a design choice rather than a requirement, and it needs a second label design, which means a second run of 100.
Minimums and lead times
- Relabelling and swing ticket application
- 25 garments, mixed styles counted together
- Woven labels and swing tickets
- 100 per design, which is the label maker minimum
- Woven labels and swing tickets, production
- 10 to 14 days from artwork approval
- Order to delivery
- Two to three weeks
- Reorders on approved artwork
- 10 to 14 days
The 25 is the minimum for relabelling and finishing, not a minimum order. Below 25 garments we can still print and embroider. You just cannot have your own label on that quantity, because the labels themselves start at 100 per design.
What drives the cost is the garment, the decoration, the quantity and the finish. The pricing page sets that out, and we quote every job on what you actually want to make.
Relabelling is the step print on demand cannot do
A print on demand garment ships with the blank supplier's label in it, because nobody in that chain ever handles the garment long enough to change it. That is fine for testing whether a design sells. It is the reason a brand that is selling eventually moves on, and relabelling is usually the first thing it asks for.
We wrote up the trade-offs in own label vs print on demand, and the step by step in how to start a clothing brand in the UK.
Relabelling questions
- Relabelling is removing the label the blank garment arrived with, usually the supplier name in the neck, and stitching your own woven label in its place. With care labels and a swing ticket added, the garment stops being a printed blank and becomes your product.
- The garments we relabel come from the ranges we hold in stock, which is what lets us match a reorder to the first run. If you already hold blanks from another supplier, tell us what they are and how many, and we will say whether we can take them on.
- 25 garments, with mixed styles counted together. Below that we can still print and embroider for you, but you cannot have your own label on that quantity, because the woven labels themselves start at 100 per design.
- Two to three weeks from order to delivery on a first run, which includes the 10 to 14 days the label maker needs from artwork approval. Reorders on approved artwork are 10 to 14 days.
- Woven is the retail standard and it is what a customer expects to find in the neck of a garment they paid full price for. Printed labels are the right choice for care and composition information, applied alongside your woven brand label rather than instead of it.
- Textile products sold in the UK must show their fibre composition. Wash care symbols are not required by law, but retailers and customers expect them, and a garment without them does not read as finished. We apply both on a printed care label.
Tell us the garments, the quantity and what you want in the neck. We will come back with the fold types that suit it, the label sizes, and an honest lead time.
