About Onna by Premier workwear from BR Apparel
Onna by Premier is a healthcare range, and it is the only range we supply that was designed around a shift rather than around a job site. Ten garments, all cut from the same four-way stretch fabric, in a colour palette built for telling roles apart rather than for matching a brand guideline.
BR Apparel is a Bradford-based supplier of Onna. We hold the range, embroider it in house, and supply it to care homes, nursing homes, supported living services and treatment rooms across West Yorkshire.
What makes it worth a page of its own is the fabric. Care work is bending, lifting, transferring and kneeling, repeated for twelve hours. A woven tunic that does not move with the wearer gets adapted by the wearer, which is how a uniform ends up untucked, unbuttoned and no longer doing the one job it exists to do.
Why Choose Onna
Onna sits apart from the other five ranges we hold, and the reasons have very little to do with what makes a good workwear brand.
Four-way stretch, across the whole range
The core Onna-Stretch fabric is 210 gsm and blends polyester, recycled polyester and viscose with 6% elastane. It is the only range we supply where stretch is the point rather than a feature on one softshell, and in personal care it is the difference between a garment that moves and a garment that gets pulled out of shape.
Half the range is a ladies fit
Five of the ten garments are cut as ladies fits rather than offered as a smaller unisex size. In a workforce that is mostly women this is the single most common complaint about care uniforms, and it is usually met with a size chart rather than a different garment.
A deodorising finish, which matters on a long shift
The range carries a natural deodorising finish. On an eight or twelve hour shift, in a building kept warm for residents, that is a practical property rather than a marketing one, and it is the thing wearers notice before they notice anything else about the garment.
Recycled content as standard, not as a separate line
A third of the main fabric is recycled polyester, the underscrub base layers are half recycled nylon, and the Agility fleeces are 100% recycled polyester. There is no premium eco version to trade up to, so choosing it does not mean changing garment, lead time or supplier.
A palette designed for role identification
Ceil Blue, Clean Green, Calm Pink, Dynamo Grey, Navy, Black and Vital White. These are healthcare colours, which means a home can put each role in a different one and keep the same logo on all of them. Most workwear ranges give you three colours and a decision you cannot make.
Sizes that reach the whole team
Several garments run XS to 5XL, and the unisex cargo trousers are sized on leg length as well as waist rather than one length for everybody. Care teams are the least uniform group of people we dress, and a range that stops at XL sends somebody home in the wrong thing.

The garment residents and families read a role from, so it is the one to decide the colour coding on first.
Underscrub base layers
Priced to suit the garment and quantityThe Unstoppable Fresh base layer in unisex and ladies cuts, 170 gsm in a half-recycled nylon blend. Worn under a tunic for warmth without bulk, which is what makes short sleeves workable in a building where staff move between warm lounges and cold corridors all shift.
Stretch cargo trousers
Priced to suit the garment and quantityThe Relentless cargo trouser in unisex and ladies cuts, in the same stretch fabric as the tunics so a full uniform matches in tone rather than nearly matching. The unisex version is sized on leg length as well as waist, which is rarer than it should be.
Stretch joggers
Priced to suit the garment and quantityThe Ladies Energized jogger, XS to 5XL. A softer alternative to the cargo trouser for teams that would otherwise buy their own leggings, which is the most common way a care uniform stops looking like a uniform from the waist down.
Agility panelled fleeces
Priced to suit the garment and quantityThe Agility panelled fleece jacket in unisex and ladies cuts, 200 gsm and 100% recycled polyester. The layer for night staff, laundry runs and anyone crossing an outside courtyard, and the garment most often bought privately by staff when the uniform does not include one.

Embroidery and Printing on Onna by Premier
Every Onna by Premier order is branded in-house at our Bradford facility. We embroider logos onto tunics and fleeces, set up for four-way stretch, and use DTF or screen printing for the rare full-colour artwork that cannot be stitched. Not sure which to choose? Stretch fabric is the part of this range that needs stating. Four-way stretch does not sit still under an embroidery needle the way a pique polo does, so it needs the right stabiliser behind it and a stitch density set for the fabric rather than for the logo. Get that wrong and you either pucker the tunic or kill the stretch in a patch the size of the badge. We set it per garment, and the proof we send is stitched, not a mock-up on a screen.
Placement is different on a tunic too. A V-neck and a side seam pocket move a left chest logo from where it would sit on a polo, and a tunic is usually seen from further away than a polo is, across a room rather than across a desk. We set placement against the garment and confirm it before anything goes on the machine.
Care homes often want a first name under the logo, which is standard practice in dementia care and worth doing properly. That makes each garment an individual item rather than a batch, so it changes what a re-order looks like: we hold the design once and add the name per garment, which keeps the cost sensible and means a new starter does not wait for a run of six.
Embroidery
Best for Onna tunics and fleeces, with one caveat that applies to this range and no other we hold: four-way stretch needs the right stabiliser behind it and a stitch density set for the cloth, or you pucker the garment or kill the stretch under the badge.

- Onna by Premier is a separate range from the same manufacturer, and the two answer different questions. Premier is front of house: aprons, chef wear, poplin shirts and tabards. Onna is healthcare: stretch tunics, underscrubs, care trousers and fleeces. A care home usually ends up ordering from both, because the kitchen needs Premier and the care floor needs Onna, and there is no reason for that to be two orders.
- Five of the ten. There is a ladies cut of the Limitless tunic, the Unstoppable Fresh underscrub, the Relentless cargo trouser and the Agility fleece, plus the Ladies Invincible tunic and the Ladies Energized jogger, which have no unisex equivalent. Several of them run XS to 5XL. Worth checking style by style at quote stage rather than assuming, because the size range is not identical across the range.
- Yes, provided it is set up for the fabric. Four-way stretch behaves differently under a needle from a woven or a pique knit, so it needs the correct stabiliser and a stitch density chosen for the cloth. Done properly the badge moves with the garment and lasts the life of it. Done as a default setting it puckers, or it stiffens a patch of a garment whose whole point is that it stretches. This is the main reason we would rather stitch a sample than send a screen mock-up on this range.
- Yes, and in care settings it is common enough that we would ask about it unprompted. The logo is digitised once and held on file; the name is added per garment underneath it. Because the name is the only part that changes, adding one more tunic for a new starter is a small job rather than a fresh setup, and it comes back matching the ones already on the floor.
- Pick the colours before you pick the quantities, because it is the decision that is expensive to reverse. The Onna palette runs Ceil Blue, Clean Green, Calm Pink, Dynamo Grey, Navy, Black and Vital White, which is enough to separate nurses, care assistants, housekeeping, catering and management without anybody needing to read a badge. Keep the logo, the thread colours and the placement identical across all of them, so the building still reads as one organisation.
- The range is specified for healthcare, where a hot wash is the norm rather than the exception, and embroidery handles repeated hot washing better than a printed transfer does. The thing that shortens the life of any care uniform is not the wash temperature but repeated high-heat tumble drying, which is where colour and shape go. Worth checking against your own infection control policy before you order, since policies differ between homes and it can change which colours are practical.
- Six garments per design for embroidery and ten for print, and you can mix styles, colours and sizes inside that figure, so tunics and trousers count towards the same minimum. Once your logo is on file with us there is no minimum on re-orders at all, which matters more in care than the opening order does, because the ordering never really stops.
- Four to five working days in production once the artwork is signed off, and a quote back inside 24 hours. A first order carries a one-off £15 charge to digitise the logo into a stitch file, normally turned round the same or next day, after which the file stays on record and re-orders skip that step. If a home is kitting out from scratch we would rather run a sizing session on site than work off a chart.
